Setting Goals And Creating New Habits for 2018

Setting goals is something that we all do in some way or another and should do. It gives us the ability to focus in on what we want to achieve as well helps us create habits that will allow us to take action to achieve our goals. By writing your goals down, it also allows us to go back and assess on how well we are doing with our original plan. Setting goals is the easy part. What we have to do in order to achieve them is where a lot of the difficulty comes in. The process in becoming the person you need to become to achieve that goal is often overlooked by many. Taking a step back and really looking at what you need to do in order to change is where all the magic happens. This article will outline how you can break down your goals and give you some tips on what to do to keep you on track to achieving them. A new fresh 2018 is right around the corner and now is a good a time as any to get started!

New year's resolutions are right around the corner. As cliche as they may be, setting goals are the important first step in shaping your plan towards ultimate success. It’s important to set long term and short term goals. The end goal may seem far away and totally out of reach now, but by taking small steps and actions daily towards that long term end goal will eventually allow you to achieve it. Think of it as slowly paying your “personal goal account”. If the end goal will need you to accumulate 1000 goal credits, by chipping away and contributing 5 credits / day you’ll achieve your end goal in 200 days. Being mindful, focused, and disciplined on your short term goals will help you fill in the bigger picture in no time. We are all faulted and will always come across obstacles and bumps in the road. By working at it, habits become easier to develop which in turn help you behave in ways which make your goals more attainable. Hypnosis and self-hypnosis can make you self-aware of deep subconscious beliefs that may be limiting your success or even self-sabotaging you. It has the potential to aid you along in your journey to success.

What Can You Do To Set Your Goals And Keep Yourself In Check To Attaining Them? I’ve outlined 4 commonly used tips that can help you shape your initial plan for the year ahead. By using these points they will help you identify where you are at currently and what you need to do to help you along to make the necessary changes.

  • Evaluate And Reflect: The best way to set a desired goal for the future is to evaluate and reflect on where you are at right now in your current situation. By writing these points down and reflecting if these are OK or not. This gives you a baseline to work from as well as outlines your current accomplishments or shortcoming that you will need to work on. We are all a work in progress, so these evaluations give you a good foundation to work from.

  • Define Your Dreams And Goals: Take some quiet time to really reflect on your dreams. Try to cut yourself off from any distractions (cell phone, TV, people etc.). Make sure you are in a quiet room with just your thoughts, a piece of paper and a pen. Let your creative mind run wild.

  • The S.M.A.R.T. Acronym: Specific - Measurable - Attainable - Realistic - Time.

  • Specific: Get as specific as you can about your goals. Ambiguous goals lead to ambiguous results. Incomplete goals lead to poor incomplete results.

  • Measurable: Always set goals that are measurable in some way.

  • Attainable: Setting attainable goals means that you can actually achieve them. By achieving them, this positively reinforces good behaviour that you can build off of. Far to often, people set unattainable goals that only lead to further disappointment.

  • Realistic: The goal has to be real. Our imaginations sometimes run wild and lead us to setting some pretty unrealistic goals. Doing this won’t really help you in the short or long term.

  • Time: Setting a timeframe is crucial. The best part of setting goals is that they have an end. Set smaller goals and timeframes within the bigger one to keep you focused, on track, and prevent you from getting discouraged.

  • Be Open To And Embrace Accountability: By telling a trusted friend or loved one about your goal keeps you accountable. Embrace the fact that they will be checking in on you. We all get side tracked and need some "coaching" from time to time. Being accountable will help you to stay on track in the long run.

How Can Hypnotherapy & Self-Hypnosis Can Help You Set the Precedence For Your New Goals & Habits? Hypnotherapy can help you effect positive changes in your life. In addition to working on your goals daily using the above mentioned tips, hypnosis can help facilitate your success by overcoming possible subconscious beliefs, blocks or self-sabotaging behaviours. Becoming self aware of these subconscious behaviours can be the first step in helping you overcome them. Using visualisation techniques while in hypnosis can also be a great motivator. Picturing your end goal vividly and rehearing the steps you need to take to get there are a fantastic tool to help you along with the process. Many athletes use visualisation so that they can perform just the way they need to on competition day.
