Many people today suffer from lack of sleep. Not only is it important to get the right amount of sleep, but the quality of your sleep is also extremely important. Although you might be getting a consistent 7-9 hours of sleep a night, there is a chance you are not achieving a deep state of delta rest. Why is this important? Why should this matter to you?
Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis have been around for quite some time. Despite current popular belief, it is actually a very useful treatment modality for many issues people face in their day to day lives. It is also a great way to help you with sleep deprivation. People that suffer from lack of sleep over prolonged periods of time can be at greater risk of developing anxiety and depression. This article aims to inform you about delta sleep and how hypnotherapy can help you achieve it more consistently. Sleeping well consistently will add years of enhanced happiness and wellness to your life.
Why Getting The Right Type Of Sleep Is So Important
All too often today, people are neglecting their sleep. Pressure to perform in your job, various family obligations and personal relationships can all take a toll on your sleep. As North Americans, we tend to live a fast paced life and often forget to take proper care of ourselves. Getting the right amount of sleep consistently helps regulate your biological rhythms (circadian rhythms) and helps your mind and body regenerate and operate more efficiently. The National Sleep Foundation recommends that the average adult sleep between 7-9 hours a night. Sleep needs vary for different age groups, so it’s important to know on average how much sleep you should be getting.
More importantly, the quality of your sleep is essential in maintaining your health. It is surprisingly overlooked in many cases. We experience different types of brain activity throughout our day. Science has categorized these different brain states we experience in terms of their wave frequencies. There are typically 4 states which are brain will operate throughout the day: Beta, Alpha, Theta & Delta. The Beta state being where you are most alert and the Delta state being the deepest state of sleep which you can attain. Delta is the state your body does its regeneration.
A consistent lack of deep Delta sleep can lead to various forms of sleep deprivation. By not attaining proper Delta sleep at night your body is not able to effectively clear your mind and regenerate itself. You wake up feeling unsatisfied, tired and unrefreshed. Consistent lack of proper sleep will eventually raise your risk for other unwanted health conditions. This is why it is so important that you routinely attain this deep level of sleep. You will wake up feeling refreshed and energized with a clear mind.
How Hypnotherapy is Effective at Helping People With Difficulty Sleeping
For various reasons there may be a subconscious cause that is preventing you from attaining consistent Delta sleep. Many people don’t realize that there may be something subconscious that is not allowing them to attain Delta level sleep. This can be frustrating over time as you’ve probably tried all the natural remedies available and you still can’t seem to get a decent night's sleep.
Few people know that hypnotherapy can be a very effective way of dealing with these issues. There are a number of approaches your hypnotherapist can take in order to help you subconsciously allow yourself to attain consistent Delta level sleep. Using long progressive relaxation techniques, positive suggestion scripts, parts therapy or age regression can all potentially help you resolve any internal conflicts that are disruptive to your sleep and well-being.
Swiss researchers published an article in 2014 finding that people can achieve deeper sleep after being treated with hypnotic suggestion. In fact, one group of patients observed in the study found an 80% increase in their “deep sleep” time.
If you’re having trouble sleeping, hypnotherapy may be a great alternative way to help you get the deep Delta sleep your body needs.
